Box Score 2 PUEBLO, Colo. -- The Chadron State College softball team fell 12-11 in game one before defeating the CSU-Pueblo Thunderwolves 6-5 In game two of Saturday's doubleheader in Pueblo, Colorado.

The Eagle are now 3-13 overall and 3-3 in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play. Pueblo is 3-14 overall and 1-5 in conference play.

In the 12-11 game one loss, the Eagles had 19 hits and two errors. The Thunderwolves finished with 16 hits and zero errors.

The Eagles gained an early 5-0 lead with one run in the top of the first and four more in the top of the second inning.

A single by
Ashland Baca, a senior from Pueblo West, Colorado brought
J'lyssa Martinez home in inning one to score the game's first run.

With runners on the corners, the Eagled gained a 2-0 lead in the second inning when
Angelina Quezada, a junior from Denver, Colorado, singled to right center to score
Mackenzi Kroll. Two batters later, Martinez singled, loading the bases with one out.

CSC's next batter was
Devyn Thornton, a redshirt sophomore from Windsor, Colorado. Thornton grounded out to second base but every other runner was able to advance, giving CSC a 3-0 lead.

Jessie Henchenski, a senior from Fort Collins, Colorado, delivered a single up the middle to score two more runs for the Eagles before a fielder's choice recorded the final out of the inning.

The Thunderwolves only needed three hits to score four runs in the bottom half of the inning. After a single and a walk, Zoie Armstrong homered to right center, scoring three runs. An error by the CSC defense advanced a runner to third before a single scored the fourth run.

Chadron State extended its lead to 6-4 in the top of the third inning on a
Brady Laucomer single that scored
Mackenzi Kroll for her second run of the day.

CSU-Pueblo quickly tied the game at six with a two-run double down the right field line in the bottom of the third inning.

Over the next two innings, CSC was able to score five runs to build an 11-6 lead. One run was scored in the top of the fourth inning when
Sophia Brennan drew a bases loaded walk.

Baca started the scoring in the bottom of the fifth inning with an RBI-single that advanced Thornton to second and scored Martinez. The next batter for the Eagles was
Lauren Zimmerman, a junior from Reno, Nevada.

Zimmerman launched a ball into left field for a 3-run homer that extended CSC's lead to 11-6.

The hosts were able to add one run in the bottom of the fifth but neither team was able to score in the sixth inning, making the score 11-7 heading to the seventh and final inning.

After CSC left two runners on in the top of the inning, the Thunderwolves recorded six hits and had four runs to tie the game at 11 and force extra innings.

The Thunderwolves only faced three CSC batters in the top of the inning before using two singles, a walk and a sacrifice bunt to score the game winning run and record the 12-11 victory.

Kenzi Garner received the loss on the mound for Chadron State. The junior from Broomfield, Colorado allowed eight hits and seven runs in four innings of work. McKenna James received her first victory of the season for CSU-Pueblo.

In the Eagles game two victory, the Thunderwolves threated with three runs in bottom of the seventh inning but pitcher
Tori Haug struck out the last batter she faced to hold onto a 6-5 victory.

Chadron State once again took an early lead after a Kroll double scored pinch runner
Chloe Brown in the top of the second. Laucomer, a sophomore from Scottsbluff, Nebraska, brought Kroll and Brennan home with a double of her own, giving the Eagles a 3-0 lead.

In the top of the third inning, Zimmerman hit her second home run of the day, this time scoring herself and Baca and giving CSC a 5-0 lead.

Pueblo used a solo homer in the third inning and a fielding error by the CSC defense in the fifth inning to make the score 5-2 heading to the seventh.

After the Eagles left the bases loaded in the top of the seventh inning, the Thunderwolve's quickly gained runners on second and third with two outs in the bottom of the inning.

Ashley Tosh hit a double to score two runs before Emma Case singled to center field, scoring Tosh and making the score 6-5 in CSC's favor.
Â
Haug, a senior from Commerce City, Colorado, struck out the final batter she faced to end the game. The senior improved to 2-3 in the complete game victory, allowing seven hits and five runs, four being earned.

Offensively, Baca finished the two games with six hits in seven at bats.

CSC and Pueblo will play two more games tomorrow with first pitch scheduled at 11 a.m.
