CHADRON, Neb. -- The Chadron State College softball games scheduled for Saturday and Sunday against the UCCS Mountain Lions have been moved to Friday and Saturday due to better weather conditions this weekend.

Chadron State Softball will be having a cancer awareness game on Saturday to honor and recognize those who have fought cancer or are currently fighting cancer. A moment of silence will be taken to honor and remember those who have fought or are currently fighting the disease.

Chadron State softball would like to especially recognize one of their own, Scott Sebbo. Scott is the father of
Madison Sebbo, a sophomore catcher from Rapid City, South Dakota, and is currently fighting colon cancer.

The games will begin at 12 and 2 pm on Friday and 11 am and 1 pm on Saturday.

The Eagles are currently 3-15 overall and 3-5 in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference action. UCCS is ranked fifth in the conference with an overall record of 9-8 and conference record of 6-2.

UCCS's conference victories occurred by going 3-1 against New Mexico Highlands and Black Hills State.

Offensively, four Mountain Lions are hitting over .300, led by Jacqueline Berkowitz with an average of .571. Berkowitz has appeared in 13 of the teams 17 games this season. As a team, UCCS has hit .294 this year and allowed their opponents a batting average of .327.

Hailey Busshart and Izzy Giroux both have a team high nine RBI's while Busshart leads the squad with three homeruns.

In the circle, Hailey Bond has a team high ERA of 2.66 with a record of 4-1 while Autumn Kunze is second with an ERA of 3.22. Kunze's record is 5-2, with all five victories occurring in complete game appearances.

Defensively, UCCS has recorded 19 errors this season. Chadron State has struggled defensively in limiting its errors, having 34 on the year.
