Softball moved to Thursday and Friday

CHADRON, Neb. – Out of concern for inclement weather forecasts in the area, the Chadron State College softball team has moved up its season ending four-game games series with the Black Hills State Yellow Jackets to a Thursday/Friday format.
 
The Eagles, originally scheduled to play the Yellow Jackets on Friday and Saturday, will now play Black HIlls in Chadron, Nebraska on Thursday and Friday, April. 25-26. Doubleheader game times will remain the same at noon and 2: p.m. on Thursday followed by 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. on Friday.
 
Four Chadron State and four Black Hills State seniors will be honored between games on Friday.
 
The Eagles currently are 11-35 overall and 11-25 in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play. Black Hills State stands at 12-31 overall and 11-27 in RMAC play.
 
The Yellow Jackets 11 conference victories occurred against UCCS, CSU-Pueblo, Adams State, and Colorado School of Mines. CSC and BHSU both split with Colorado School of Mines and swept Adams State. The Yellow Jackets are currently on a 13-game losing streak.
 
Offensively, five players for BH have a batting average over .300, led by Shayla Tuschen with an average of .360. Lily Simmons, who hits .320, leads the team with 26 runs and 41 hits. Ashlynn Pauwels has a team high of 33 RBIs and is tied for the team lead with six homers.
 
Black Hills State has three pitchers who have appeared in games this season. Laci Peskey leads the trio with an ERA of 6.01 and 14 complete games.
 
Peskey has allowed 195 hits and 124 runs while striking out 70 batters and walking 53 in 124.2 innings of work.
 
Title IX Celebration events that were originally scheduled for games on Saturday have now been postponed until next season.
