CHADRON, Neb. -- The Chadron State College softball team will have its first away game since February 25 on Saturday when they visit the Colorado Mesa Mavericks in Grand Junction, Colorado for a four-game series.

Saturday's games are scheduled to begin at 12 and 2 pm while Sunday's doubleheader begins at 11 a.m.

The Eagles are currently 5-29 overall and 5-19 in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play. The Mavericks, who are ranked third with a 25-3 conference record, are 27-7 overall.

In conference competition, Colorado Mesa has swept Fort Lewis, Colorado School of Mines, UCCS, Black Hills State and New Mexico Highlands. The three conference losses all occurred to the conference leader, Colorado Christian.

CSC was swept by Colorado Christian and split their series with UCCS and Colorado School of Mines.

Offensively, the Mavericks are the nation's best team in hitting the long ball. Colorado Mesa leads the nation with 84 homeruns, three ahead of Valdosta State with 81. The team in third place has a total of 63 homers this season.

Individually, three Mavericks rank in the nation's top 14 for homeruns. Ally Distler is tied for 14 with 12 homers, Miranda Pruitt has 16 homers, ranking her fourth, and Myah Arrieta is the national runner up with 20 homeruns.

Arrieta leads Mesa with an outstanding .491 batting average. In 34 games, she leads the team in runs, hits, triples, homers and RBIs. In conference play, she is batting .512.

Iliana Mendoza is currently hitting .447 on the season and .500 in RMAC action. She is joined by seven other Mavericks who have a batting average over .300 in conference action.

Defensively, four different pitchers have appeared in at least 15 games. While all four have ERAs in the three's, Preslee Christensen leads the group with an ERA of 3.06 and 79 strikeouts.
