Looking Back

Thursday Dual Preview
Prior to the official championships, Chadron State will face off against Adams State in the Eagles' final RMAC dual of the season.

The Grizzlies are winless in duals this season, with an 0-3 record having fallen to Texas Woman's on criteria 22-22 and losing to RMAC frontrunners Simon Fraser 31-9 and Colorado Mesa 38-8.

Adams State features two nationally ranked wrestlers according to The Open Mat's rankings. 110-pounder Austria Holland is ranked No. 11 while 138-pounder Corrie Williams is ranked No. 9 in the nation. In the NWCA's Regional Rankings from January 16, Holland is No. 5 and Williams is No. 3 at their respective weights.

Thursday's dual will also be significant for RMAC placing. The other three teams in the conference have completed their dual schedules, with Simon Fraser at 4-0, Colorado Mesa at 3-1 and Texas Woman's at 2-2. Championship Seeding
Ahead of Saturday's championship event, the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference has announced the tournament seeding for each weight class. A total of four wrestlers are seeded at each of the 10 weights, with rankings based heavily on head-to-head results and overall records.

Five of those seeded wrestlers are from Chadron State, including two wrestlers who are the No. 2 overall seed at their weight.

Mana Chanthasone is seeded No. 2 at 103 pounds. Chanthasone placed second at the RMAC championships last season and recently won the consolation bracket championship at the North Central Open. Ranked at No. 20 nationally by The Open Mat, Chanthasone is currently the only Eagles wrestler with any sort of national ranking.

Shania Wear is seeded No. 4 at 117 pounds. Wear has a 9-11 record this season and placed sixth at 123 pounds during last season's RMAC Championships. Wear also won the first-ever RMAC Women's Wrestling Summit Award last year in 2023-24, given to the student-athlete with the highest GPA competing at each sport's championship site.

Regan Rosseter is seeded No. 3 at 138 pounds. Rosseter hasn't competed much in her true freshman season but has been impressive when she has, accumulating a 4-1 record. Rosseter earned a pin in an RMAC dual against Colorado Mesa.

Ella Shevlin is seeded No. 4 at 180 pounds. Shevlin had several big moments in her freshman season, including a run to the championship match in the Chadron State Open back in December. She is one of two CSC regionally ranked wrestlers, coming in at No. 5 in the region at 180 according to the NWCA.

Esther Peters is seeded No. 2 at 207 pounds. Peters has rolled to two tournament titles this year, finishing first at the Chadron State Open and the York Open. She is Chadron State's other regionally ranked wrestler, currently No. 5 in the NWCA rankings at 207, and was named the RMAC Wrestler of the Week on January 21.

Coach's Corner

A former student-athlete for Chadron State, Summers began his coaching career at CSC as a men's assistant during the 2017-18 season. As a student-athlete, Summers won an RMAC title and qualified for nationals in 2016.

Summers is assisted by Samuel deSeriere and Giovanni Cassioppi, who also are both in their second seasons at Chadron State.
