CHADRON, Neb. – After a dual win at home and a strong showing at an open tournament, Chadron State women's wrestling will have another split duals/open weekend, this time in Minot, N.D. for the Beaver Bash Duals and Beaver Bash Open this Friday and Saturday.
The duals and open will be available to stream for free on the NSIC Network. Live results are available on TrackWrestling.
Looking Back
Chadron State topped Dickinson State in a dual 26-22 on Thursday before earning one champion and six total placers at the Dust Bowls Open in Colby, Kansas.

Dust Bowls Open
Chadron State and Dickinson State split victories 5-5 in their Thursday matchup, but the Eagles won the maximum five points in all of their victories while limiting bonus points for the Blue Hawks. The biggest star-power matchup came at 110 pounds with Chadron State's NCAA No. 9
Rylee Balcazar defeating NAIA No. 10 Jenna Gerhardt, as Balcazar avenged a loss to Gerhardt at CSC's season-opening tournament.
In Kansas,
Desza Munson took home the title at 145 pounds while
Adrianna Lopez (117) and
Ana Rojas-Zamora (124) came second and
Maria Arellano (160) came third. Freshman
Eliza Davis earned the first placing of her collegiate career at 138 by coming in sixth.
Wrestler of the Week
Desza Munson went 4-0 in a three-day span, including three pins, as the redshirt freshman was named the RMAC Women's Wrestler of the Week this Tuesday.

Desza Munson Named Women's Wrestler of the Week
It is the first weekly honor for Munson in just her second week of competition for CSC. Two of her pins came in under two minutes, as Munson took care of her Dickinson State opponent in just 1:48 during Thursday's dual, then won the championship bout in Kansas with a fall in only 1:07.
Munson, a redshirt freshman from Commerce City, Colorado, is now 6-2 this season.
National Rankings
In the newest NWCA national rankings, released November 13, Chadron State has one nationally ranked wrestler in reigning All-American
Esther Peters, who is No. 4 in the country at 207 pounds.
Chadron State has two other wrestlers appear in the NWCA's regional rankings. Peters is No. 3 in the region at 207 while
Piper Cadden is No. 3 regionally at 131 pounds.
Rylee Balcazar is the No. 5 ranked wrestler at 110 pounds.
In the team rankings, Chadron State is tied for 16
th, down from a preseason tie for 10
th.
The Open Mat, which released its most recent weekly rankings on November 18, has 103-pounder
Brianna Vollendroff ranked No. 11 in the nation along with Balcazar at No. 11 for 110 pounds. The Open Mat has Cadden at No. 9 and Peters at No. 5 nationally.
Scouting the Opponents
Minot State
Minot State, the host this weekend, enters with a 2-1 dual record after losing to Waldorf and defeating Jamestown (28-9) and Sioux Falls (28-19). The Beavers have a two-time national qualifier at 145 pounds in Haleigh Lematta, who recently finished second at the Waldorf Open and could match up with
Desza Munson.
Sioux Falls
Sioux Falls is 0-2 in duals, losing to Minot and dropping a 25-23 decision to Jamestown. At the Waldorf Open, freshman Kristy More went 4-0 to win the 145-pound bracket, topping Lematta in the championship bout and entering the regional rankings as the No. 5-ranked 145-pounder in Region 6.
The Cougars have four regionally ranked wrestlers overall – More, Johanna Steinlicht (No. 4 at 138), Kylie Hulse (No. 5 at 160) and Zoe Adam (No. 5 at 207).
Saskatchewan
The University of Saskatchewan competes in the Canada West Conference. In their most recent action (against all Canadian competition), the Huskies collected seven podium finishes, including two bracket wins, at the Dino Open in Calgary. Freshman Alexis Lavers won the 136-pound bracket while 182-pounder Myah Phillips won her bracket in dominant fashion with a pin and two technical falls.
Open
Saturday's open is set to feature Chadron State and their three dual opponents from Friday, in addition to Dickinson State, Jamestown, Bismarck State and Dakota Wesleyan.
