RAPID CITY – Chadron State earned its highest team finish at a golf event in 2024-25 as the Eagles finished in second place at the Hardrocker Spring Invite, hosted by South Dakota Mines at the Arrowhead Social Club.
The Eagles shot 53-over 337 as a team during Tuesday's second round, improving their team score by 14 strokes from Monday's 351 to finish 120-over 688 over the two-day event.
The second-place finish is the highest for the Eagles as a team since CSC won the spring Hardrocker Invite last year in 2024, which also featured alum
Jordan Grasis winning medalist honors.
Aubree Heinsma carded a 13-over 84 to finish tied for fourth in the tournament at 25-over 167 after her 83 on Monday had her in third position after round one. Heinsma is CSC's highest individual finisher at a tourney this season so far.
Klara Kleinig and
Payton Wise each finished tied for 10
th at 31-over 173 after improving their round one scores. Kleinig shot an 85 on Tuesday after a round one 88, while Wise improved to an 83 after a round one 90 to leap into the top 10. Wise had the eighth-lowest score in the entire field during Tuesday's action.
Allison Sanger also improved for the Eagles, carding a 14-over 85 in round one after a 92 on Monday to finish tied for 17
th at 35-over 177.
Maggie Teague rounded out the Eagle five at 44-over 186 after shooting a 96 Tuesday.
Brooklyn Tychsen competed as an individual and finished tied for 21
st at 41-over 183 after a 93 on Tuesday.
Chadron State finished four strokes ahead of third-place Dickinson State, overtaking the Blue Hawks after the Eagles were in third themselves after one round of competition. CSC shot seven strokes better than Dickinson State on the day to vault up in the standings.
The Eagles also finished ahead of fourth-place Jamestown (by 10 strokes) and fifth-place Black Hills State (by 13 strokes). CSC finished 34 strokes behind tournament winners and hosts South Dakota Mines.
Chadron State will have a little bit of a layoff until the RMAC Championships, which are set to be contested from April 20-22 at the Boulder Creek Golf Club in Boulder City, Nevada.
