BOULDER CITY, Nev. – Allison Sanger shot up the leaderboard,
Macy Kleve stayed in the top 10 and Chadron State finished tied for sixth as a team on a weather-shortened final day of the RMAC Women's Golf Championships.
Sanger shot 1-under through nine holes, the best day-three score in the entire field. The sophomore climbed 13 spots on the leaderboard to finish inside the top 20 in a three-way tie for 18
th position.
Chadron State's T-6 finish is a two-place improvement over their eighth place showing last season. The Eagles were sixth by themselves in 2024. Kleve, a true freshman, finished tied for eighth in her first RMAC Championships, giving CSC a top 10 individual finisher for the first time since alum Jordan Grasis, who was fifth in 2024.
Extremely high winds made the course unplayable by mid-afternoon. The golfers were at varying stages of the back nine when the decision was made to halt play, so per United States Golf Association (USGA) rules, day three became a nine-hole day with the tournament now playing 45 holes overall.
When the dust settled, Chadron State shot 18-over 162 as a team on the day. The Eagles tied with MSU Denver, who entered the day two strokes behind CSC in seventh and shot 16-over 160.
Chadron State's 45-hole total finished at 63-over 783. The Eagles and Roadrunners each finished six strokes behind fifth-place Fort Lewis and six strokes ahead of eighth-place South Dakota Mines.
Despite shooting 18-over on the day, the same Tuesday score as Chadron State, CSU Pueblo defended its RMAC Championships crown once again, winning for the fourth consecutive year. The ThunderWolves finished at 25-over 745, six strokes ahead of Colorado Christian and Westminster, who tied for second. Colorado Mesa finished fourth.
Macy Kleve, who entered the day in seventh, carded a nine-hole round of 6-over-par 42 on the day, but still finished tied for eighth as tough conditions created high scores up and down the leaderboard. Over three days, Kleve shot 9-over 189, in a four-way tie for eighth and three strokes behind the top five.
One golfer who was immune to the winds was Sanger, one of three Windsor, Colorado natives on the Chadron State roster alongside Kleve and
Aubree Heinsma. Sanger began the third round outside the top 30, but as others struggled, the sophomore birdied No. 3 and made par on the other eight holes on the front nine.
In shooting 1-under over nine holes in round three, Sanger became the only golfer in the field to shoot under par on Tuesday and the only golfer in the field to go bogey-free in the third round. Sanger's T-18 finish at 14-over 194 is a massive step forward from her 41
st-place finish as a freshman in the 2025 championship.
Klara Kleinig (6-over 42 on Tuesday) and
Lauren Knapp (7-over 43 on Tuesday) were CSC's other two scoring golfers for round three. Kleinig birdied hole No. 9, as she, Kleve and Sanger finished with one birdie each in the final round.
Two Eagle seniors concluded their careers with Tuesday's round.
Aubree Heinsma, now a two-time RMAC Summit Award winner, shot 8-over 44 while Kimball, Nebraska's
Payton Wise shot 10-over 46.
In the final standings, Kleinig and Heinsma finished tied with one another for 38
th place at 25-over 205. Knapp was right behind, finishing solo in 40
th at 26-over 206. Wise finished 48
th at 32-over 212.
Westminster's Ashley Lam defended her individual conference title at 1-over 181 across three days. Colorado Christian's Raya Schulz finished at 2-over while her CCU teammate, Makenna Brown, took third place at 4-over. CSU Pueblo won the team title with depth, as all four of their scoring golfers placed in the top eight.
Chadron State's 2025-26 season has now concluded.
