BOULDER CITY, Nev. – Chadron State women's golf wrapped up its 2024-25 season with a team round of 42-over-par 330 on the third and final day of the tournament. The Eagles finished in eighth place as a program.
Throughout the season, the story for Chadron State has been the team's youth, with four of the six golfers to compete this year and in Nevada for CSC being true freshmen. On the final round of the season, the Eagles' two juniors had the shining moments.
Payton Wise had the low round on the day by an Eagle golfer, carding an 8-over-par 80 to climb five spots on the leaderboard and finish tied for 33
rd place. Wise finished strong, shooting even-par on the back nine by hitting seven straight pars on holes 11-17 and punctuating her tourney with a birdie on 18. Wise shot 29-over 245 over 54 holes.
Fellow junior
Aubree Heinsma, who carded a 9-over 81 on the day, remained CSC's top individual finisher at this year's championships with a 54-hole score of 23-over 239, tied for 30
th place. Among Chadron State golfers, Heinsma had either the low round or second-low round all three days of the tournament.
Heinsma, a Windsor, Colorado native, produced the highlight of the event for Chadron State on Tuesday when she eagled the par-4 seventh hole, finding the pin with her second shot. Heinsma was one of only two golfers to hit an eagle or better on any hole in this year's RMAC Women's Golf Championships, joining Fort Lewis's Vivianna Holguin, who eagled the par-5 ninth during Sunday's round one.
Chadron State freshman
Klara Kleinig shot a 14-over 86 in her final round and finished in 39
th place at 33-over 249.
Allison Sanger finished in 41
st place, but improved with rounds of 80 on Monday and 83 on Tuesday to improve from a tough opening-round 90 on Sunday.
Another freshman,
Brooklyn Tychsen, had been serving as the alternate throughout the weekend but made her RMAC Championships debut by filling in for
Maggie Teague in the third round. Tychsen shot a 14-over 86 on the day, including a birdie on the second hole.
CSU Pueblo three-peated as the RMAC women's golf team champions, finishing at 20-over 884 as a team. The ThunderWolves topped Westminster and day two leaders Colorado Christian by three strokes for the championship, with Colorado Mesa fourth and Fort Lewis fifth.
The rest of the final team order featured MSU Denver sixth and South Dakota Mines seventh ahead of the Eagles. CSC beat out Black Hills State and Adams State.
Medalist honors went to Westminster's Ashley Lam, who finished at 8-under-par over 54 holes and won the individual title by six strokes over her teammate, Kyra Sponenburgh. Colorado Mesa's Hunter Gledhill finished third by shooting even-par over 54 holes. CSU Pueblo golfers finished fourth, eighth and 11
th and while CCU golfers finished fifth, sixth and seventh.
Chadron State has now concluded competition for the 2024-25 season, and will resume again in the fall.
