COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – First baseman
Ashland Baca earned a selection to the RMAC Softball All-Academic First Team while six other Eagle student-athletes were named to the Honor Roll.
Baca, who was previously an honor roll selection herself in 2024, was one of 12 RMAC players named to the exclusive first team. CSC's 2025 honor roll selections are
Brogan Allen,
Kenzi Garner,
Tori Haug,
J'lyssa Martinez,
Kendall Petty and
Lauren Zimmerman.
Baca is the first Chadron State player to earn RMAC All-Academic First Team honors since infielders Taylor Bauer and Courtney Lecher each made the team in 2017.
A Pueblo West, Colorado native, Baca graduated with a perfect 4.0 GPA as a business administration major and currently has a 3.8 GPA in her Master of Business Administration (MBA) program at Chadron State.
On the field, Baca ranks ninth in the RMAC in on-base percentage (.466) and led the CSC team in that category, as well as batting average (.388) and OPS (1.063) while ranking second on the team with 37 RBI, 52 hits and six home runs. Baca had twice as many walks (22) as strikeouts (11) during the 2025 season.
Additionally, Baca was the only Chadron State softball player this season to play and start all 50 of the Eagles' games, playing a combination of first base and designated player.
Among Chadron State's honor roll selections, it is the third straight year being named to the honor roll for
Kenzi Garner,
J'lyssa Martinez,
Kendall Petty and
Lauren Zimmerman (2023, 2024) and the second straight year on the honor roll for
Tori Haug (2024). It is the first career RMAC All-Academic honor roll selection for
Brogan Allen.
The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Academic Honor Roll recognizes student-athletes in each conference-sponsored sport who academically maintain at least a 3.30 cumulative grade-point average, have completed two consecutive semesters at their current institution, and have used a season of competition.
Each institution's athletic communications directors nominate student-athletes who academically maintain at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average, along with the other criteria for the Academic Honor Roll, for recognition on the First Team Academic All-RMAC in each sport. The league's athletic communications directors for that sport vote to compose the First Team Academic All-RMAC and select the Academic Player of the Year. They are not permitted to vote for their own student-athletes.
Colorado Mesa's Ally Distler was named the league's Academic Player of the Year for the third time after previously winning in 2022 and 2024.
