Four Eagles finish in top ten

LITCHFIELD PARK, Ariz. -- March 10, 2023 -- Brooke Kramer finished fifth, Allison Acosta was tied sixth and Jordan Grasis and Alphine Hickstein finished tied ninth Friday at the SMSU Challenge in Litchfield Park, Arizona.

The Eagles dropped two places as a team Friday after shooting 331 (+43). CSC finished round one tied second after shooting +33 (322).

The event winners, Wayne State College, shot 309 Thursday and 327 Friday, winning the event by ten strokes.

Brooke Kramer led the Eagles again in round two, shooting an 81 (+9).

Kramer bogeyed holes two and three and had double bogey on hole five on the front nine. On the back nine she had two bogeys and one triple bogey.

She tied for fifth individually.

With her score not counted towards the team score because she was competing unattached, Acosta shot an 83 (+11) in round two.

Acosta finished her round with six bogeys, three double bogeys and one birdie.

Grasis finished round two with an 82 (+10).

The Yuma, Arizona native finished +5 on the front and back nine. Her scorecard consisted of three bogeys and one double bogey on the front. The back had two double bogeys and one bogey.

Joining Grasis tied ninth overall was Alphine Hickstein.

Hickstein had nine bogeys, two double bogeys and two birdies on her round, finishing with an 83 (+11).

A stretch of six straight bogeys occurred for Hickstein on holes 7-12. She finished with a par on hole 13 before three more bogeys on holes 14-16. She gained a stroke back after shooting birdie on hole 18.

Kenzey Kanno shot an 87 compared to yesterday's 86 (+14).

After finishing +6 on the front nine, four double bogeys and a bogey found Kanno's scorecard on the back nine.

The Mitchell, Nebraska native finished tied 24th.

Kinsey Smith improved her score from round one by five strokes. Six bogeys and a birdie had Smith finish +5 on the front nine, before three double bogeys, three bogeys and a birdie were shot on the back nine.

Smith finished tied 30th.

CSC's other golfers competing unattached were Payton Wise and Aubree Heinsma.

Wise finished her day with a 92 (+20), while Heinsma shot a 95 (+23).

The Eagles will be back in action on March 19 and 20 as they head to Pueblo, Colorado for the Pack Classic.
