Chadron State College senior
Brooke McCully of Mullen was the runner-up all-around cowgirl last weekend at the Central Wyoming College rodeo at Riverton.
McCulley scored 195 points by placing se
cond in breakaway roping with times of 3.0 and 2.6 se
conds and fifth in the barrel race. There were 101 breakaway ropers and 99 barrel racers at the rodeo.
Layni Stevens of the University of Wyoming was the all-around winner with 290 points after placing se
cond in team roping, third in goat tying and fourth in breakaway roping.
Chadron State tie down ropers
Jake Chasek of Mitchell and
Sid Miller of Merna placed third and fourth in that event. Chasek's times were 11.1 and 9.4 se
conds while Miller finished his runs in 10.8 and 10.5 se
conds. Chasek's mark during the finals Sunday was the fastest of the rodeo.
It is the second straight rodeo that both Chasek and Miller finished in the top four in tie down roping. Miller was first in tie down roping and Chasek was the runner-up at the Chadron State rodeo that opened the season in the Central Rocky Mountain Region on September 6-8.
Other CSC finalists included
Cinch Kiger of Overton, Nebraska, who placed fifth in bareback riding and Mary Gibson of Havre, Montana, who placed seventh in goat tying. The Eagles also had a pair of 10th-place finishers -
Dean Schroder of Taylor, Nebraska, in saddle bronc riding and Mejrusa Rustenovic of Kiowa, Colorado, in barrel racing.
The third rodeo of the fall season will be at Sheridan College in northern Wyoming this weekend from September 27-29.
