2025 Don Beebe Golf Classic Tees Off Saturday

CHADRON, Neb. – Over 130 golfers will take part in the 2025 Don Beebe Golf Classic presented by Monument Health, an annual fundraiser that helps support Chadron State athletic scholarships, at Ridgeview Golf Club in Chadron this Saturday and Sunday.

The field will feature plenty of Chadron State staff members and local Chadron community members, but the weekend will also see golfers travel from at least nine other states, including Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Iowa, Montana, South Dakota, Tennessee, Wisconsin and Wyoming.

Several teams with recent tournament success return to this year's field. Defending champions Tom Simons of Chadron, along with his sons Scott and Brett, have been three-fourths of the winning foursome in nine Don Beebe Golf Classics. At least one member of the Simons family has been on the winning team in 16 of the 30 contested classics.

This year, Chadron's Judd Hageman is in the lucky fourth spot alongside the Simons trio. Hageman previously won the classic alongside Brett and Scott Simons in 2007. Chadron State professor and two-stint softball coach Rob Stack, who has been a part of 10 classic-winning teams, many alongside the Simons family, will be competing on a team with his son, daughter and son-in-law once again this year.

A second trio, Chadron's Trevor Berry, Jacksyn Behrends and Tyler Westlake, were part of winning foursomes in 2022 and 2023 and finished tied for second last year. They also return, this year accompanied by Broc Berry.

The other team who tied for second in the championship flight during the 2024 classic was made up of CSC women's golf alumni. Two of those four, Brooke Kramer and Kinsey Smith, will also be in the 2025 field.

The classic will feature two starting flights each day. The morning flight will tee off starting at 7 a.m. while the afternoon flight will begin at 1:30 p.m. Golfers will compete in pairings during the first round, then be ranked according to their opening day scores for the second day. Both days and flights will feature shotgun starts and there will be hole prizes on each hole for golfers who best complete a challenge such as longest drive or closest to the pin.

There will also be a social for golfers at The Ridge in downtown Chadron on Saturday night from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Awards presentations will take place for the morning flight at noon and at 6 p.m. for the afternoon flight on Sunday.

Tournament sponsors include 385 Xpress Lube, Adidas, Bean Broker, Big Bat's, Chadron Community Hospital, Chadron Motor Company, Dietrich Distributing, Eagle Chevrolet, Game One, Homestead Bank, High Plains Beverages, Holiday Inn Express, Innovest, Monument Health, Outlaw Printers, Platte Valley Bank, Runza, Scooter's Coffee, Security First Bank, Subway, TeamMates Mentoring, The Ridge, Wahlstrom Ford and Yeradi Lawn Service.
