MARSHALL, Minn. – Windsor, Colorado freshman Macy Kleve hit an even-par round of 72 and the Eagles are in fourth place among 13 participants as a team after the first of two rounds at the Mustang Invite in Marshall, Minnesota. 

Kleve hit two birdies, 14 pars and two bogeys in her round, making par in each of the final 11 holes on the Marshall Golf Course Saturday morning. Kleve trails Minnesota State's Emerson Garlie by one stroke for medalist honors and has a three-stroke cushion on Minnesota State's Emma Berge, who sits in third after shooting a 75.

Sophomore Klara Kleinig is also in contention, part of a group of six golfers tied for eighth place at 5-over-par 77. Sophomore Allison Sanger and freshman Lauren Knapp each shot a 9-over 81 and part of a group tied for 23^rd place after round one. 

Thanks to the performances of that top four, the Chadron State team has an opportunity to make some noise in the team standings with another solid round tomorrow. The Eagles rank fourth in the team standings out of 13 participating schools at 23-over 311, but are just one stroke back from Minnesota-Crookston and the Minnesota State "B" team, who are tied at 22-over. The "A" team of Minnesota State leads at 16-over. 

Sophomore Brooklyn Tychsen was competing as an individual and did not factor into the team score, but recorded the fifth-best round of the day along with the best individual highlight. Tychsen eagled the par-4 fifth hole, getting 295 yards to the pin in just two strokes. She was the only golfer in the 77-player field with an eagle or better on the day. 

Tychsen finished at 14-over 86, tied for 45^th place. Payton Wise rounded out CSC's scoring five with a round of 89 and sits in 60^th. 

Sunday's round two will see a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m.
