Two men's student-athletes named Academic All-RMAC

COLORADO SPRINGS -- May 26, 2022 -- Chadron State College track and field student-athletes Daniel Reynolds and Shane Collins were selected to the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference's 2022 Outdoor Track and Field All-Academic First Team, in a release on Thursday at RMACSports.org.

In addition, 28 on the men's and women's team combined qualified for the Academic Honor Roll, by virtue of having a minimum 3.3 cumulative grade point average, using a season of competition, and having completed a full calendar year at CSC.

Collins and Reynolds were selected by the conference's sports information directors, from among all eligible nominees. Both men have a perfect 4.0 GPA.

Collins, the RMAC champion in the men's hammer throw at the 2022 outdoor meet, is a sophomore from Bison, South Dakota. He set a new RMAC meet record at the event in Pueblo, Colorado, sending the hammer implement 61.58 meters (202 feet) to win gold. Two weeks later, he added another 14 inches to his personal best, at a Twilight Meet in Kearney, Nebraska, to rank 11th in NCAA Division II entering the national meet with a mark of 61.94 meters. He earned points in all three of his throws at RMACs, taking seventh in discus and eighth in shot put.

Reynolds, from Granby, Colorado, set a new school record in the hammer throw as a redshirt freshman, when he launched his weight 62.07 meters, or 203 feet, eight inches, in Seward, Nebraska in mid-May. He rose to ninth nationally in the event, leading up to the NCAA championships. With a mark of 61.52 meters, which also surpassed the meet record at the RMAC meet, Reynolds finished the conference runner-up after Collins. He added a bronze medal in the shot put as well, totaling 14 points for CSC at the meet, where the Eagles placed third.
