Chadron State College Athletic Hall of Fame
Curt LaDuke wrapped up his collegiate rodeo career in style by winning the all-around cowboy title in the Central Rocky Mountain Region and placing fifth in calf roping at the College National Finals Rodeo in Casper in 2003. He remains the only Chadron State cowboy to ever win the regional all-around honors.
During his first full year at CSC in 2001-02, LaDuke made the finals in one of his three events— calf roping, steer wrestling and team roping—11 times and qualified for the both the Three-Region Shootout in Bozeman, Montana, and the College National Finals in Casper in both calf roping and team roping. He and his partner, Gavin Flint of Eastern Wyoming College, placed third in the third goround of team roping at Casper.
LaDuke was even better as a senior in 2002-03. He again made it to the finals at the regular season rodeos 11 times and finished second in team roping, third in calf roping and fifth in steer wrestling in the final Central Rocky Mountain Region standings. At the College National finals, LaDuke caught all four of his calves and took fifth in the final standings.
After graduating from CSC in 2004, LaDuke continued to compete at pro rodeos, and was the all-around cowboy at the Red Bluffs Rodeo in California. As of his induction, LaDuke was managing a ranch in the Buffalo, Wyoming, area. He and his wife Kristen have a son, Sam.
