Chadron State College Athletic Hall of Fame
After transferring to CSC at the start of his sophomore year, Long played fullback for the Eagles three years. He rushed for 775, 731 and 718 yards those years, giving him a total of 2,224 yards on 497 carries for an average of 4.5 yards per carry. He also scored 27 touchdowns and earned NAIA District 11 honors all three years. He coached football and basketball in Colorado high schools and was a teacher and the girls’ golf coach at Ponderosa High School in the Denver area at the time of his induction. Willy attended Arthur High School three years before graduating from Morrill High.
