Justin closed out his career as Chadron State’s all-time winningest wrestler with 111 victories. Since then, only Brett Hunter and Josh Majerus have exceeded that total.
Justin earned both All-American and All-Academic honors as a senior in 1998, when he placed eighth at 150 pounds at the National Tournament. He is the only CSC wrestler to win his weight class twice at the Cowboy Open Tournament.
He seldom gave up back points and was pinned just twice in 162 matches as a member of the Eagles.
Justin did not wrestle his first year at CSC, but filled the 150-pound weight class the next four years. He was named the Eagles’ MVP as a sophomore, when he had a 35-13 record and qualified for nationals. He went 22-11 as a junior. and 31-11 as a senior.
After teaching physical education and being the head wrestling coach at Chadron High several years, he became a special education teacher and assistant wrestling coach at Douglas High School in his hometown in 2006.
This year, he switched to teaching middle school PE, but continues to help coach wrestling. His wife Melissa also graduated from CSC in 1999 and is an English teacher at Douglas High. They have three children—Madison, Zach and Abby.
