As a 125-pound wrestler who never had to cut weight, Devlon Webb was the smallest wrestler in the Chadron State lineup all four years, but he came up big by qualifying for the National Tournament in each of those seasons.
Webb had numerous highlights at Chadron State, but his best season was in his junior season of 2007-08, when became an All-American.
Webb was 13-13 midway during his sophomore season, then went 13-4 to finish 26-16. He won all four of his matches at the Central Missouri Duals, including a 4-3 win over the No. 3-ranked wrestler at the time.
While Webb lost his first match as a junior at the Regional Tourney, he won the next three to place third and qualify for Nationals again. Webb took fifth by defeating Tyler Mumbulo of Upper Iowa 11-5. That gave Webb a 20-14 season record.
When Webb was a senior in 2008-09, he placed fourth at the Regional Tourney and qualified for Nationals for the fourth time. Although Webb did not place at nationals as a senior, he finished the year with a 24-17 record and an 87-67 career record. Webb was pinned just four times during his career—once each season.
Currently, Webb is in the insurance business in Houston. He and his wife, Toni DeWald, who also attended Chadron State, have two daughters.
