Alongside fellow inductee Logan Stropko, Beau Wendling was a part of two Chadron State football teams which won back-to-back RMAC championships with 12-1 records in 2006 and 2007.
Wendling overcame two ACL tears during his football career at CSC, but made 19 tackles and recovered two fumbles while playing on special teams as a redshirt freshman; then started all 26 games at cornerback during his junior and senior seasons. He had 80 tackles, four interceptions and 20 pass breakups during that two-year span.
A native of Rock Springs who now has an insurance agency in Lander, Wendling showed a knack for big plays, returning a fumble for a touchdown in Chadron State’s upset win over Montana State, a nationally-ranked Division I FCS program, in 2006 and intercepting a pass in the end zone to help defeat Nebraska-Kearney the next year.
Beau also joined the indoor track team two years before spring football practice began and placed as high as third in the heptathlon and hurdles at RMAC Meets.
