A four-year starter at safety, Paul Schweger ranks among Chadron State’s all-time outstanding defensive players.
During his career he made 182 tackles, including 107 solo tackles, intercepted eight passes that he returned 133 yards, broke up 19 more passes and forced five fumbles.
“There’s nobody I’d rather have at his position,” former CSC Defensive Coordinator Todd Auer once said of Schweger. “He’s like having a coach on the field.”
He was first-team All-RMAC as both a junior and a senior after being honorable mention as a sophomore.
Schweger was also selected to the NCAA Division II All-Nebraska team three times. He also was a Second Team All-Southwest Region defensive
choice as a senior.
In addition, Schweger was elected the Eagles’ defensive captain as both a junior and a senior and was named the Outstanding Defensive Player and Special Teams Player as a senior in 2007. He also was First-Team RMAC All-Academic that season and was a CSC Admissions Ambassador.
Schweger owns an insurance agency in Windsor, Colorado, and has a special friend, Lori Nicorici.
