Chadron State College Athletic Hall of Fame
Curtis Deines was a rare four-year starter at center, snapping the ball an estimated 2,800 times, mostly to a previous hall of famer, quarterback Steward Perez.
When Deines graduated in 1991, it was reported that he had never missed a practice or a game because of an injury or illness.
Originally from Torrington, Wyo., he continued to reside in Chadron, becoming a railroad conductor working out of Alliance.
Deines died March 19, 2021, as a result of a tragic car accident, while traveling home from the mid-state on railroad business.
