Amanda Owens Cecilio set the Nebraska Class D Nebraska State Meet high jump record of 5-8 that still stands when she was a senior at Harvard High School in 2003, and developed into an outstanding multi-athlete for the CSC track team.  She placed 28 times at RMAC Meets, believed to be the most ever for a CSC athlete. She won the conference’s pentathlon twice and was second twice and third twice in the RMAC heptathlon.
As a senior in 2007, Owens scored 33.5 points, more than anyone else, and was voted the Outstanding Female Athlete at the RMAC Outdoor Meet. She also earned All-American honors at the National Meet four times—twice in the high jump and twice in the heptathlon. The javelin became one of her strong events.  She won it twice at RMAC Meets.Â
Owens came to CSC as an RHOP student, graduated magna cum laude, also graduated from the accelerated nursing program at UNMC in 2009 and is an RN for Florida Cancer Specialists in Orlando. She and her husband, former CSC basketball player Felipe Cecilio, have a son and a daughter.Â
