Dawn Bowcott King was an outstanding distance runner for the Eagles in the mid-1980s. Highlights included winning the NAIA District 11 marathon and earning All-American honors by placing fourth at the national marathon when she was a sophomore in 1984. The following year, she won the 3000 meters twice indoors and the 5000 three times outdoors. While she was injured much of her senior year in 1986, she recovered in time to set the Chadron State record in the 5000. She owned three CSC distance records both indoors and outdoors when she graduated. Dawn continued to run after graduating. Her achievements include winning the women’s Citizens’ Division at the Bolder Boulder in 1987, winning the Denver Marathon and placing third in the province marathon in Manitoba, where she grew up. After having a career in high technology in the Silicon Valley of California, she now lives in Boulder, where she and her husband, Ian Vint, own considerable property.
