Chadron State College Athletic Hall of Fame
The Chadron State football team won 35 games and lost only 10 from 1995 through 1998 while Mike Brownfield was a stalwart in the offensive line. The Eagles won a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference championship outright and shared another during his career and were in the Division II playoffs both of those years.
Brownfield started every game at left guard for four years except for three that he missed because of injuries early in the 1997 season. He returned and earned all-RMAC first-team honors and Nebraska NCAA Division II honors from the Omaha World-Herald both that fall and again his senior year. He also was a second-team All-West Region choice as a senior.
A farm boy from Cozad, he was a first-team Farm All-American selection by Successful Farming magazine as a senior after earning honorable mention the previous year. He also did the Eagles’ long-snapping his final three years.
As a senior, Brownfield received both the Don Beebe Most Inspirational Player Award and the Clyde Bond Memorial Award. Â
He owns and operates Elkhorn Valley Fitness. It is the only OPEX licensed gym in Nebraska.
Mike and his wife Stephanie have a son, Jameson. They are expecting their second child in January 2018.
