Chadron State College Athletic Hall of Fame
A Chadron native, Jarod Moeller punted the ball nearly 5.4 miles for the Eagles. During his four years as the team’s punter, his 245 punts traveled 9,455 yards, an average of 38.6 yards. Each year, his average improved, topped by his 41.1-yard average his senior season in 1999.
Perhaps his greatest achievement was ranking among the top 12 in NCAA Division II in net punting three of four years, paced by a No. 5 rating with a 38.10-yard average as a junior in 1998. As a senior, his net of 38.5 yards was ninth best nationally.
His busiest day came during his sophomore season at New Mexico Highlands, where he punted 11 times for a 46.2-yard average.
Moeller, who played quarterback in high school and placed in the 300-meter hurdles at the State Track Meet as a junior and a senior, was selected the Nebraska D-II all-state punter by the Omaha World-Herald twice during his career.
Moeller and his wife, the former Jenny Linehart, met at CSC. They have three sons: Luke, Blake, and Beckett. He helps coach their teams and is a den leader for their Scout troop.
His father, Dr. Lee Moeller, was an industrial technology professor at CSC for 32 years. Moeller has followed that pathway. He’s a manufacturing process analyst in Omaha.
