Chadron State College Athletic Hall of Fame
Ryan Deterding played on three Class C-2 state championship football teams at Cambridge High School and he also played on great teams at Chadron State College. The Eagles won or shared three Rocky Mountain Athletic
Conference championships while he was playing.
After two years, Deterding settled in at offensive right tackle, where he was an all-star his final two years with the Eagles. He earned Second Team All-RMAC as a junior and first team honors as a senior in 2001.
In addition, during his senior year in 2001 he was First Team All-West Region and Nebraska NCAA Division II. He was also placed on Football Gazette’s All-American Third Team and Second Team All-District in the Academic All-American voting his senior season, when he took 12 hours of graduate courses.
The following spring, Deterding signed a free agent contract with the New York Giants. He also was in camp briefly with the Indianapolis Colts and has lived in that community ever since.
Deterding earned both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in business administration from Chadron State and has been involved in the pharmaceutical industry the past 15 years. He and his wife, Lindsey, have four children, Illa, Joseph, Phillip, and Lana.
