Chadron State College Athletic Hall of Fame
Otis Frazier played basketball just one year at Chadron State, but it was one of the Eagles’ best.
Frazier was a football and basketball standout at Lew Wallace High School in Gary, Indiana. College coaches from both sports recruited him, but he chose to play basketball at Western Nebraska Community College at Scottsbluff. He spent two seasons at WNCC and transferred to Butler in the Midwestern Collegiate Conference the following year. He was named to the all-newcomer team but chose to enroll at CSC in 1999.
CSC fans soon learned that Frazier could do it all. He averaged 23.2 points and 8.3 rebounds, both second best in the RMAC, led the conference and set a CSC record in steals with 73 and was sixth in the conference in assists at 3.6 per game. He also had the first triple-double in CSC men’s basketball history. Â
The Eagles finished 19-8 that season, their most wins in 20 years, and were 15-4 in the RMAC, still their best ever. Among their wins was a 90-77 decision in Denver over Metro State, which went on to win the NCAA II national championship.
Otis majored in criminal justice at Chadron State and is a deputy sheriff in Maricopa County, Arizona.
He and his wife Linda have five children: Alexis, Otis III, Aliyah, Keenya and Malik.
